Alan DeBekker Global Engineering Executive
Bringing business, people and technology together.
The short version

My career began in systems engineering and grew into leading global engineering organizations and multibillion-dollar businesses. Across every chapter, the pattern is the same: recognize when the organization is out of alignment with the market, diagnose the real problem, and build what is required to move forward.
Today, I advise executive teams on cloud and AI strategy and serve on the Board of Directors of the National AI Consortium. I’m looking for the next company where engineering is central to business growth, full-time or, selectively, fractional.

Different business problems. One repeatable operating pattern: diagnose, align, build and deliver.
Built Kyndryl’s Client Innovation practice from zero, bringing engineers into executive conversations and turning co-created solutions into repeatable offerings.
Introduced Modern Private Cloud and Private AI, aligned delivery and go-to-market teams, and moved the business toward a $1.6B annual trajectory.
Redefined the problem, aligned teams across a complex global organization, and launched an enterprise cloud management platform with its first client.
Created an Everything as Code community that helped infrastructure experts become software-enabled problem solvers and accelerated client time-to-value.
What I can do for your company
Separate symptoms from causes. Read the market, the customer and the operating system around the work before committing money and people to a solution.
Translate technical complexity into a business mission executives can back and teams can act on, without losing the substance in between.
Shape the organization, operating model, partnerships and leadership system required to deliver now and keep delivering after the first win.
Stay close enough to remove barriers, create ownership and connect engineering work to revenue, customer value and measurable business outcomes.
Best-fit mandates
AI-forward, outcome-led
AI isn’t something to bolt onto an organization. It becomes valuable when it is woven into how people think, build and work together.”
I work with AI as a daily operating layer: researching, pressure-testing strategy, turning discovery into precise specifications, orchestrating agentic work and preserving decisions as reusable organizational knowledge.
The point is not to look “AI-first.” The point is to help teams learn faster, make better decisions and turn pragmatic wins into repeatable capability, with human judgment and governance designed in.
How I lead
“Leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about building a team that can solve problems together, then giving them the clarity, support and trust to do it.”
The leadership experience showed up in the team’s own feedback.
“He balances strategic vision with strong execution, bringing clarity to complex situations while empowering teams to think critically and take ownership. What stands out most is his ability to connect the why to the how.”
“He has a rare combination of transparency, honesty, and genuine care for his people. Alan has a natural ability to recognize the unique strengths in each individual and bring those qualities forward.”
